Hempfield United Methodist Church
Delran Builders completed an addition and renovation project at the Hempfield United Methodist Church in Lancaster, PA. The 10,000 sq. ft. addition consisted of five new classrooms, men’s and ladies rooms with showers, two new offices, a kitchen and an entrance lobby. The renovation portion of this project entailed gutting over 3,000 sq. ft. of the existing building, reinforcing the existing structural steel to support a new folding wall partition and installing new finishes throughout the area.
The addition structure consisted of masonry exterior walls, steel bar joist with concrete decks and wood roof trusses. The challenging portion of this phase of work was that the Church supplied many of the materials used during construction. We had to work hand in hand with the building committee to ensure that the proper materials were being ordered and that they would arrive at the correct time so there were no delays in the construction schedule. Both the Church and Delran Builders were committed to making this situation work and were successful in doing so.
