Diamond Street Phases I, II & III
This project included the rehabilitation and restoration of historic brownstone structures on three blocks of North Philadelphia into affordable housing. Single family row houses were converted into apartment buildings. The majority of these buildings were registered as historical landmarks and in these buildings, Delran Builders was required to restore the exterior brownstone, door and window trims, and architectural woodwork to their original conditions. In many of these buildings, exterior structures appeared to be sound, but interior framing and substructures were discovered to be unsound. Most of the historical restoration of these buildings was performed by Delran Builders’ carpenters. Upon completion of all phases, a total of 160 new living spaces were created.
Upon completion of the first phases, the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office endorsed the high quality and consistent results of the construction, characterizing the project “outstanding”.
