Devon Preparatory School Phase II / Progress
Phase II of this project involved the complete demo of the Lower Level and 1st floor of the school wing (over 25,000sf in total). All new HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems were installed. A sprinkler system was added to the building as none existing. A wheelchair lift from floor to floor was added. The new design called for a mansard to be installed on the roof to match the look of the historic building on campus. In order to do this the existing building structure required additional support.
Over 36,000 ½” welds were installed on the existing bar joists to accommodate this added load. All new windows were installed in the building, new stone veneer was installed over the existing brick and EIFS panels were added at windows. As this is a functioning school all work had to be completed from early June through the end of August. Schedule was extremely tight but was achieved by the entire project team (owner, architect, Delran and subs working as a cohesive unit)
