Blakemore Apartments – Germantown, PA
This project consisted of the selective demolition and the complete renovation/rehabilitation of three existing historic buildings located in two separate locations. These two locations, named the Blakemore Apartments and the Germantown Apartments, are located about ten minutes from each other in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.
The Blakemore Apartment project consisted of completely removing the entire interior portion of the existing building and renovating the space into eight separate flat type apartment units with a common area on the Ground Floor and Basement area.
The Germantown Apartment site was actually made up of two separate buildings. One location was a three story stone structure, and the adjacent property was a two story structure. Extensive stabilization of the existing structures was required prior to demolition of interior walls, etc. to ensure the safety of all workers. All new wall framing, mechanical systems, interior finishes, roofing systems and first floor storefronts were included in the scope of work. The existing basement also underwent a complete renovation, including new concrete slabs and wall stabilization in order to accommodate a space for the new mechanical room. A total of eleven new two-story townhouse units were created through this revitalization.
